SAE Australia - Modifying Light Vehicle Seminar

The team at BTT Engineering are always looking to further expand their knowledge base and recently participated in an information session hosted by SAE Australia, centered around the topic of 'Modifying Light Vehicles.' The event featured Bill Malkoutzis as the keynote speaker, who provided a comprehensive and insightful overview of his extensive experience within the light vehicle sphere, specifically under the Vehicles Assessment Signatory Scheme (VASS) in Victoria over the past few decades.

During the presentation, Bill shared valuable insights, particularly emphasizing the significance of chassis torsion and emissions testing as crucial steps necessary in validating extensive modifications made to vehicles engines & bodies. Furthermore, the discussion touched upon aspects of Pre ADR (Australian Design Rules) and Post ADR vehicles, highlighting the testing and validation processes necessary to ensure compliance with relevant regulations in accordance with the vehicles build period. One particularly interesting topic of conversation was the rapidly evolving world of electrification in light vehicles, characterised by a lack of well-established rules and regulations. This highlighted the pressing need for increased industry and authority involvement to implement guidelines to remove reliance on self regulation. BTT Engineering thanks SAE and Bill Malkoutzis for organizing and delivering this event, which has further enriched attendees understanding of the intricacies involved in modifying light vehicles past and present.
