Drawbar Design Guide for RVSA Requirements

BTT Engineering have over the last twelve months developed resources available to purchase for light trailer manufacturers looking to transition to the new RVSA legislation. One of the larger items in their collection is the Drawbar Design Guide to help clients meet ADR62/02 requirements.

The Drawbar Design Guide consists of a number of pre-assessed drawbar configurations at direct ratings, lengths and material specifications. Each design available includes a full ADR62/02 report and manufacturing drawings, enabling manufacturers to procure these designs and integrate them immediately within their business, saving time, money and effort in having their designs individually assessed. Each design is capable of being adapted to the specific configuration requested from the customer, provided that the maximum rating, length and material limitations are not exceeded. BTT Engineering has also developed a spreadsheet available to add-on to the package which enables clients to enter in specifications from an order and choose from the suitable designs they have purchased, with a 2D drawing automatically populating with the desired dimensions. This has built-in validation, preventing any configurations being approved outside the design specifications and leaving clients open to liability from a non-compliant product.

Clients can purchase anywhere from the single design up to the entire suite, with discounts applied for bulk purchases. Currently the library has 15 functioning designs, ranging from an ATM of 750kg up to 3500kg. 4500kg designs are currently in the final validation process and will be made available shortly. If you require a design configuration which is not covered by the design guide due to using different steel profiles or unique dimensions, BTT Engineering can quote for analysis of your particular design.

In addition to the drawbar analysis, safety chain mounting testing has also been carried out and a QMS (Quality Management System) template package is also available for clients needing this documentation. Having a functional QMS in place is mandatory for operation under the new RVSA legislation. ROVER submissions can also be carried out on a client’s behalf if this is required.
