NSW Roadshow Recap

November 7th through to the 10th saw the NSW leg of the National PBS Roadshow being presented in Griffith, Newcastle and Sydney respectively. A good showing from interested operators, truck and trailer manufacturer’s alike was great to see, with many looking to find out more about what PBS is all about, how they can implement it into their companies and also to get first hand information from the NHVR and RMS NSW Transport Department with regards to network access and the future plans to make PBS better for all operators and road managers alike.

It was great to have Les Bruzsa (NHVR) and Brett Graeme (Transport NSW) presenting in person at each venue. Les had insightful information on where PBS came from, how it has positively impacted the efficiencies of the freight task, the incredible statistics on road safety of PBS vehicles and where PBS is going into the future. Brett was able to articulate the issues that are being presented in trying to open up the network to the different classes of PBS vehicle combinations with regards to road, infrastructure and rail network owners, however huge headways are being made to allow larger and heavier combinations to get access as the right conversations are being had about the real impact of these vehicles on the infrastructure and of course bolstering positive public perceptions. Ultimately it can only be good for all involved as it will allow less vehicles to move more freight in a more timely manner.

BTT Engineering was represented at the Roadshow events by Eddie van den Berg and Logan Veldhuis who informed the attendees on the process of PBS Certification and what is required in order to get to the vehicle approval stage. Advantia Transport Consulting (https://www.advantia.com.au/) was also presenting on the Assessment side of PBS, Mass Management (https://www.massmanagement.com.au/) spoke about Access Permits and of course the requirements for Mass and Maintenance Management accreditations and to round out the process of getting a PBS vehicle from concept to on the road was V-Daq (https://www.v-daq.com.au/) who informed the attendees about IAP, TMR and On Board Mass (Smart OBM).

We at BTT Engineering would like to thank everyone that attended to make the NSW Roadshow a resounding success and we again look forward to being able to bring this valuable information to more venues in the near future, so keep your eye out and ears open to get your names down for the next event when it is in a venue near to you.
