Good Morning and welcome to BTT Engineering’s Website news feed. Over the past week, BTT Engineering has travelled across Tasmania presenting on the National Heavy Vehicle Law’s [NHVL] -Performance-Based Standards [PBS]. Three successful exhibitions were conducted in Burnie, Launceston and Hobart.

The roadshow was organised by the Tasmania Transport Association [TTA] and saw representation from all different aspects of the PBS process. The presentation started with the Tasmanian Department of State Growth, where Andrew Poole highlight the industry-leading developments made by the department with the launch of their Heavy Vehicle Management System [HVAMS]. This was followed up by an overview of the PBS by Les Bruzsa – the chief Engineer at NHVR. Les has been with the NHVR since the beginning, and his knowledge of the scheme is unmatched. His insights provided an invaluable base for the remainder of the day.

BTT Engineering along with Mass Management and Advantia then discussed the benefits of the PBS, the process of certifications and the potential pitfalls that sometimes arise for clients new to the PBS scheme.

Our own Eddie van den Berg touched on BTT Engineering’s role and responsibilities as a PBS Certifier.  Eddie also highlighted the benefit of companies owing their own design approvals, and this is something not commonly adopted by companies in the industry but can represent a significant benefit to the operator.

The overall week was well received by the Tasmania heavy vehicle industry, with strong representation present at all three exhibitions. We look forward to rolling this roadshow out across Australia. Please consider subscribing to our news feed if you would like to be informed of future roadshows.

BTT would like to thank Michelle Hardwood of the TTA for the work she put in to facilitate the roadshow.
