At BTT Engineering, we take immense pride in recognising the achievements of our team — especially when they make waves in the broader engineering community. Today, we're thrilled to celebrate one of our youngest and brightest engineers, Jakob Haas, whose recent success has already made a huge impact to industry.
Jakob, alongside our own Jeremy Robinson (General Manager), recently attended the prestigious Society of Automotive Engineers – Australasia (SAE-A) 2025 Mobility Technology Excellence Awards. Representing BTT and the University of Tasmania, Jakob entered the category of Leader in Innovation – Undergraduate with his standout project:
“Turning Compliance Challenges into a Competitive Strength for Australian Tipper Builders.”
Jakob's project focused on the structural aspects of a tipper body including loading considerations and appropriate methods of assessment for a tipper body's various subassemblies. With the NHVR VSB6 J4 modification code now in place, Jakob's research has been pivotal in enabling BTT Engineering to develop of comprehensive program for helping manufacturers achieve J4 Certification. BTT Engineering has now completed dozens of J4 certifications, highlighting the value provided to industry.
This award further underpins BTT Engineering's position of being an industry leader in innovation and in particular an expert in J4 compliance, of which Jakob continues to contribute as an important member of the team.
What truly sets Jakob apart is his deep enthusiasm for innovation. It’s this passion that guided him throughout his university journey and continues to fuel his contributions at BTT. Whether collaborating with clients, mentoring peers, or brainstorming with colleagues, Jakob’s energy and dedication are unmistakable.
At BTT, we had no doubt that Jakob’s work would stand out — and we were right. He took home the Leader in Innovation – Undergraduate award, a well-deserved recognition of both his talent and the future potential of his J4 tipper body research.
A massive thank you to SAE-A for putting on such a wonderful night and to all of its sponsors for their contribution.
We couldn’t be prouder of Jakob and look forward to seeing how his ideas continue to shape the industry. Congratulations, Jakob - this is just the beginning.
